Canadian Bro Sesh

I flew back into Calgary this month for a night so I decided to see if my new buddies from CrossFit 403 were game for a bro sesh. What is a bro sesh, eh? Heavy weights, loud music, grunting, etc.

Turns out they were headed to a friends garage to lift that night and were nice enough to let me tag along. The host, Chris, was quite an upstanding citizen. He greeted me wearing a UT Longhorns shirt (the first and only one I’ve seen in Canada).

We got loosened up for a few minutes and then it was game time. Crank the tunes and pile on the plates!

I got some good work in on my clean and jerk and hang clean. I even tested out the ol’ busted shoulder with some hang snatches and over head squats. Besides getting out-lifted on everything, it was a fun time.

How many Canadian stereotypes can you spot in this picture?

I’ve had a renewed drive to better my lifts both in technique and strength from this experience. Hopefully next time I throw down with these lumberjacks I can put them in their place!
